The Carpe Diem philosophy is simple:

We build luxury yachts which fuse the traditional characteristics of the Turkish gulet with innovation and modern technology.

The yard was established in 2008 by Kaya Önol, one of Turkey's foremost sailors and owner of Prima Sails sailmakers, following his experience building three of the country's premier charter yachts: Carpe Diem (launched 2004), Carpe Diem II (2005) and Carpe Diem III (2007).

'What do I want from the ideal boat for myself? I want superb performance at sea, a thing of beauty, space and comfort, reliability and safety, and, of course, plenty of toys.

'The sea is my passion, and - like any boat owner - I want to be exhilarated by the sea whilst also being able to luxuriate in it and on it. My personal preference is for boats which are crafted principally in wood, and which unashamedly reflect the style and the proud identity of Turkish 'gulets'. Of course, the more boats we build, our idea of what this represents evolves, but I think our formula works: we take the best of tradition and contemporary design to build yachts which appeal to modern clients who simply seek space, comfort and a special place to which to escape.

'My aim is to transform my own desire to create the closest thing possible to floating perfection, and my knowledge and experience, into simply fantastic yachts which are tailored to the exacting requirements of charter clients and new boat owners who entrust me with their dreams'.
